About

In 1977, Susan Sontag wrote in On Photography: “photography [in America] is a polylogue” – not a monologue or dialogue but a conversation that combines many different views and multiple standpoints.

Since I appreciate this idea, beyond its historical context of utterance, I have chosen the name polylogue for my photography practice based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

My love for photography goes way back. Being a teenager in 1990s, I started taking pictures with my father’s old Minolta, mostly in black and white. Whenever I had a free period at school, I would sneak into the dark room. Later, I studied art history, while still being involved in analogue photography. Then, the digital era came, and a high-quality DSRL and decent lenses were beyond my financial reach for a long time. Several years ago, I was finally able to invest in some decent gear and have been photographing ever since. I have acquired practical photography skills through various courses and workshops, and I continuously expand my repertoire.

Currently, I am focusing on portraits, pet photography, reportage, and conceptual series. I work both in the studio and on location. In my free time, I am active as a volunteer photographer at the biggest animal shelter of the Netherlands.
